What is a Natal Birth Chart?

A natal chart — also called a birth chart or horoscope chart — is an astronomical map of where every planet in the solar system was positioned the exact moment you were born. Luminary Atlas calculates this instantly from your birth date, birth time, and birth city, then displays it as an interactive chart wheel with a full planetary breakdown.

What your chart includes

House systems

Placidus is the most widely used system in modern Western astrology and works well for most birth latitudes. Whole Sign assigns each house exactly one zodiac sign and is preferred in Hellenistic and traditional astrology. Equal House divides the chart into 12 equal 30° segments and is ideal for beginners or births at extreme latitudes.

How accurate is it?

Luminary Atlas uses high-precision ephemeris data to calculate planetary positions. Birth time significantly affects house cusps and the Ascendant — an accurate birth time gives the most precise chart. If your birth time is unknown, noon is used as a default, but house placements and the rising sign will be approximate.
